AMERICAN VOTERS STARTED A BLUE WAVE ON NOVEMBER 3.

WILL THE RIPPLES REACH AFRICA?

It was an historic night for both parties who experienced different extremes of voter response. Democrats won in places it was never imagined they could even be competitive. Donald Trump, whether you believed his name was on the ballot or not, got a firm and definitive spanking.

One month before the midterm election we initiated an effort to bring some awareness to what we felt was an important issue: humanitarian aid. Trump, Elon Musk, and Elon’s creation, DOGE, gutted funding for humanitarian aid and dismantled the organizations and infrastructure to deliver life saving meds and services to African children and families. Hundreds of thousands of people died as a result over the last year, many children.

We wanted to see who in the key Senate races would support restoring foreign aid to Africa. Our Senate Watch delivered the facts and what we could learn about each candidate. We hoped voters would pay attention and use the info to help them make decisions.

We don’t know what impact our efforts had.

We do know that candidates who support humanitarian aid won their races. We do know that the Democratic party has a majority in both the Senate and House. What we don’t know is how soon this new Congress will take up the issue of humanitarian aid and if the prospect of having DOGE being challenged will move Trump and Rubio to make changes before the new Congress is sworn in.

You can count on that we will raise the issue and we will hold this new Congress to deliver on the wishes of voters.
